NGK ANNOUNCES INCREASED INVOLVEMENT IN 2006 FORMULA ONE SEASON

NGK Spark Plugs, the world’s largest manufacturer of spark plugs, has announced a new sponsorship arrangement with the Honda Racing F1 Team for the 2006 Formula One season.

NGK has had a long and fruitful relationship with Honda in Formula One for many years and now that the Honda Racing F1 Team has been formed as a 100% Honda owned team, NGK has become a Team Technical Partner with the NGK logo appearing prominently on the rear wing end plate of the RA106 race car (pictured).

“At NGK we have always taken pride in the development of racing spark plugs, specifically for Formula One racing, which is extremely demanding on the spark plug,” says Norbert Neuhaus who heads up the NGK German operation. “Since NGK’s first Grand Prix win in Mexico in 1965 – pleasingly with Honda -, NGK racing plugs have sparked the winners of over 165 Grands Prix over the following 30 seasons.

“As well as the technical successes which we enjoy from each season’s F1 campaign – with four teams sponsored this year - there are strong marketing reasons why this collaboration benefits NGK.

“NGK’s image and consumer awareness benefits from our F1 connections and gives greater stimulus to our campaigns and promotions. The addition of the Honda Racing F1 Team to the teams that we are supporting in 2006 will increase our visibility even further.”
