NGK Spark Plug is the "Official Supplier" to BMW Sauber F1 Team and BMW touring cars in the 2006 season

In this year’s Formula 1 season, NGK Spark Plug Europe will for the first time be supporting BMW Sauber F1 Team as an “Official Supplier”. In addition, the world’s leading manufacturer of spark plugs and Lambda sensors will be supplying BMW’s teams throughout the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

When the new BMW Sauber F1 Team racing cars F1.06 hit the racetrack, everything depends on two factors: on the driver’s performance and on every single technical part. While the drivers have to make a good showing and prove their skill, the technical quality - particularly of the new naturally aspirated 8-cylinder-V-engines - must support them to the full throughout the entire race.

In the 2006 season, BMW Sauber F1 Team technicians will for the first time have to rely on racing spark plugs supplied by NGK. The team is now the fourth in the 2006 Formula 1 season being officially ‘sparked’ by NGK.

At the same time, following the extremely successful 2005 season, BMW will aim to defend the Drivers’ as well as the Manufacturers’ Championship in the WTCC 2006 season. Five BMW country teams will be taking part in 20 races worldwide. Their BMW 320si cars (4-cylinder, 275 hp) utilise NGK spark plugs. The cars and the drivers’ outfits also feature the NGK logo.

NGK and BMW have been working closely together for many years now in the development of engines for new vehicles. Most BMW cars today will leave their production plants with NGK spark plugs fitted as Original Equipment.
